"And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." - Acts 17:10 -11 KJV.
While there are teachers given to the church, we ought to rely upon the Holy Spirit to teach us. He is our Guide unto all truth. The word of the Lord IS truth, and we ought to be in the Scriptures daily. The Holy Spirit will simply point folks to the Lord Jesus Himself, and to His word of truth. We are called to the Lord Himself, and we are to simply abide in the Lord Himself. We ought to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly, and we ought to abide in Him and His word. Churchianity and religion often get in the way, and we often need to escape it's clutches. Worldliness so easy entangles us all. Going to a church building saves no man. Vain religion saves no man.
The call of the hour is to come unto the Lord Jesus Himself. Men are fallible, men are fickle, and many are false in these last days. The spirit of error is rampant, and many are seduced by this spirit that leads souls into error and destruction. The word of God, even the Lord Jesus Himself, says to BEWARE. Many are so easily offended in these last days as well, I see division on every side. It's hard to truly know true brethren from the false brethren. God is surely not the Author of all of this confusion. Know this, the truth of the word of God is FOOLISHNESS to those that are in error and are perishing. Even to many who have a Bible in their hands. We who truly believe have an unction from the Holy One, from the Lord Himself.
1 John 2:20-21, 27 KJV - "But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth...But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him."
This "anointing" is none other than the Holy Spirit of truth Himself. He comes to and abides in ONLY those that are truly saved and believe. All others are being led away by the spirit of error. I have learned that the Lord has ZERO tolerance for the spirit of error, and that a little leaven leaventh the lump. NO LIE is of the TRUTH. The Lord is our Teacher, and we ought to cleave unto Him alone. His Spirit is the Spirit of TRUTH. I know that there are teachers given, and yet we must be sober and alert at all times, and go to the Scriptures to check every word of any and every teacher, to see whether these things be so. There is a flood of false teachers in these last days. Lack of knowledge of the word of the Lord and ignorance DESTROYS the souls of men. We ought to go to the Scriptures whether the teacher is true or false. If he is false, he is to be rejected, marked, and avoided. If he is true, then the soul ought to be drawn closer to the Lord Himself and to His word.
The Berean's even checked Paul, an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ! And, they were called more NOBLE for doing so! Yet, many are offended at this. Many are offended if their favorite teacher is exposed or called into question. Revering men and calling them by flattering titles is dangerous ground. Following any man or woman is dangerous ground. Respect of persons is a sin. True nobility is having a ready mind to receive the word of God, even the words of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. True nobility is searching the Scriptures and comparing every jot and tittle to see if these things be so, according to the Scriptures. Man's opinion means nothing. The vain doctrines and traditions of men mean nothing.
We live in the days where many will not endure sound doctrine, yet after THEIR OWN LUSTS heap to themselves many teachers to scratch their itching ears. BEWARE, lest you are led away with the error of the wicked. A noble heart is ready to be reproved by the word of God, to depart from evil, and to endure sound doctrine. The wicked heart hates reproof, rejects the truth, goes the way of error and unbelief, and will not endure sound doctrine. To the unsaved, repent and turn to the Lord Himself and be ye saved. To the saved, to anyone who has an ear to hear, repent, and only place your faith, trust, and confidence in Christ Jesus the Lord Himself.
