The Road To Salvation

What road do you travel on? There are two roads in life. We are either on the road to heaven, or on the road to hell. One road is the road to salvation, the other road is the road to destruction. The road to salvation is clear in the book of Romans.

First, we must confess, or admit, that we are poor sinners.

Romans 3:10 KJV - "As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one"

Romans 3:23 KJV - "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

Romans 5:12 KJV - "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:"

We are all sinners as we have all sinned and come short of God's glory. Not a one of us is righteous before God...not one! We inherited our sinful nature from the man Adam. Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden and through Adam, the first created man, sin came to all mankind.

Romans 6:23a KJV - "For the wages of sin is death..."

God told Adam and Even they would surely die if they ate of the forbidden fruit. We, too, will surely die because of our sins. We have a sin debt towards God. God demands payment for our sins, and that payment is our death. We sow sin, we reap the wages of sin, which is death. We have all sinned and deserve the judgment of God and to be cast into hell.

Romans 6:23b KJV - "...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

This is the great news! God's great gift to us poor sinners is salvation through His only begotten Son, Christ Jesus. It is a FREE GIFT from God to everyone that believes on the Son. It is by God's grace, through faith in the Son, NOT OF WORKS. It is a GIFT.

Romans 5:8 KJV - "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us"

God has shown His great love for man in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Christ died for poor sinners, Christ died for our sins. Your sins, my sins, the sin of the world. He paid the debt of sin we all have towards God! For God so loved YOU...It's personal. Our sin debt is paid in full if we take the gift.

Romans 10:13 KJV - "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Through Christ Jesus, through the foolishness of preaching, through the Gospel, God offers the FREE GIFT to us. Our simple part is to BELIEVE the Gospel and CALL on the name of the Lord. There is NONE OTHER NAME whereby we MUST be saved. We come to God through Christ Jesus, and He forgives us our sins and cleanses us from all unrighteousness. God will save all that call on the name of the Lord in repentance and faith.

It is not necessary for us to do good works to be saved, we are simply called to REPENT and BELIEVE the Gospel.

We do not need to join a church.
We do not need to walk an aisle.
We do not need to complete a decision card.
We do not need to pray a sinner’s prayer.
We do not have to go to a priest or pastor.
We do not have to give money.
We do not have to jump through religious hoops.
We do not need to do anything of this sort.

If one is doing these things in order to try to be saved, one is on the WRONG ROAD!

Jesus did it all. Salvation is all of the Lord.

Romans 10:9-10 KJV - "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Salvation is PERSONAL. A man must believe in his own heart that God hath raised the Lord Jesus from the dead, and a man must confess with his own mouth the Lord Jesus. I am saved by this Gospel, and it is this Gospel I preach. I have confessed the Lord Jesus, and simply point to Him. It is HE that has saved this poor man. We are all on the road to hell, and the Lord Jesus alone saves man and puts him on the road to heaven. DEATH came through Adam, but ETERNAL LIFE through Jesus Christ the Lord. While it is still called today, call on the name of the Lord and be ye saved.
